This lamp is in great shape! I tested the articulations at extreme ranges and the arm holds up really well. The only weak point I could find is if the lamp head is perfectly parallel to the surface and the second articulation was at 90 degrees. The head would droop without some adjustment to those extreme angles. Why you would have it at that angle is beyond me but full disclosure is important. Maybe you have a camera directly above and are recording looking straight down through the magnification? Who knows. For most people though this light is going to hold just about wherever you put it. The tension on the joints is also tweakable but I have left them alone. The color is definitely original brown but it is in great shape with one little scuff on the back side of the second joint. This is a great lamp for a mini painting setup.
