An original and highly desirable Carte de Visite (CDV) photograph by Samuel Montague Fassett who also photographed Abraham Lincoln measuring approximately 4 x 2 1/2 inches.  Cataloged in Picturing Frederick Douglass cat. #31, dated to Douglass' trip to Chicago to deliver two lectures at Bryan Hall on February 25 and 28, 1864. This is the finest example in terms of clarity I have observed. Thanks for looking.

He fought diligently for the Blacks throughout the Civil War and beyond. This beautiful quality example has is finely detailed card with sharp corners and little actual wear.
