Up for auction is a True First American Edition of, The Silmarillion by best-selling English author, philologist and author of the high fantasy works, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.  NY:  Houghton Mifflin, 1977.  365 pages.  Stated “First Printing / First American Edition” with the number line ending in “1” on the copyright page.  Multi-paneled map affixed to last blank page.  Bound in woven green cloth with gold gilt and silver lettering to spine; in original dust jacket with the price of $10.95 still intact on the inside front flap.  Book and jacket are in nice condition with a slight offset to the spine which appears to be a printing error.  Overall, nice shape.
