Draw a straight line, longer than the foot, on a piece of paper.
Place the paper on a flat surface. Stand on the paper with the longest toe and heel aligned on the line. If measuring a child's foot, it may be easier to hold the paper against the foot.
Mark the position of the tip of the longest toe and the end of the heel.
Measure the distance between the two marks.
Repeat the steps for the other foot and use the larger measurement.
