EXTREMELY RARE 2005 "Transitional" Levi’s 501 — Factory Error Pair

For the serious denim archivist: This is not just a standard pair of vintage Levi’s. This is a documented transitional error pair from the final chapter of American-made 501s.

While Levi’s famously closed its last primary U.S. plants (San Antonio and El Paso) in late 2003, they continued rare, small-batch contract runs through 2004-2006. This pair is a perfect example of that chaotic and fascinating era.

THE COLLECTOR'S "TRIPLE CROWN" PROVENANCE:

1. The Factory Mismatch (The Error): This is a true factory anomaly. The back waist patch and the button-fly construction are undeniably 501, yet the internal care tag is factory-printed with 505-0115 (a code traditionally reserved for zip-fly models). This type of assembly-line crossover is highly sought after by collectors of production errors.

2. The "Kastrin St." Connection: The top button is stamped with the legendary 511 factory code. This identifies the hardware as coming from the famous Kastrin Street plant in El Paso, Texas. By 2005, these buttons were being used as "New Old Stock" components at the 611 assembly facility to complete the final U.S. runs.

3. The Date (3705): Verified production in the 37th week of 2005 (September). Finding a "Made in USA" white-tag pair from this late in the decade is exceptionally rare, as most production had fully shifted to Mexico and the Caribbean by this point.
