The commemorative coin is dedicated to the literary and artistic generation of Ukraine in the 1920s and early 1930s, which gave a powerful impetus to the development of Ukrainian culture, but was mercilessly repressed by the totalitarian regime. An important cultural center of that period was the Slovo building in Kharkiv - a center of creativity and a place of tragic events, where innovative views were born, fierce intellectual discussions flared up, and new artistic trends were born. Mykola Khvylovy (real surname Fitilyov) is a key figure of the cultural revival, one of the founders of Ukrainian post-revolutionary prose, a poet and publicist. His activities contributed to the establishment of Ukrainian-centrism and the integration of national culture into the world context. The artist's premature death became a symbol of the collapse of the ideals of Ukrainian national communism and the end of the era of Ukrainian national revival of the 1920s and 1930s. This commemorative coin begins the theme of the Shot Revival, honoring the contribution of Mykola Khvylovy and all artists who, despite harsh pressure, bravely created and developed Ukrainian culture.
