Up for sale is a fine antique Indian Jain bronze figure of Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism.
This beautiful religious sculpture is depicted seated in dhyana mudra (meditation pose) with full lotus position, displaying the iconic iconography of Jain art: unclothed body, elongated earlobes, distinct ushnisha, and the sacred Srivatsa mark to the chest, which clearly differentiates it from Buddhist figures.
Cast in a heavy, dense bronze with a lovely natural aged patina and genuine age-related wear. The statue is well-proportioned with calm, serene facial expression and fine traditional casting details.
In good antique condition, with no repairs, no damage, and solid overall structure.
A rare and highly collectable piece of oriental Indian antiquity, perfect for collectors of Asian art, religious bronzes, and spiritual sculptures.
A superb and authentic example of classic Jain bronze craftsmanship.
