The short ring is mainly used for bicuspids, premolars, pedo, malpositioned teeth; any tooth with a short crown. 

The tall ring is used for typical molars, taller teeth, or stacking over blue for MODs.

The wide prep ring greatly simplifies what until now has been one of the most challenging posterior composite restorations.
