Solid Brass Ship’s Porthole – Great Lakes Freighter
Authentic ship’s porthole from an unknown Great Lakes freighter. The inside lid is clearly marked “Shipbuilders Great Lakes Engineering Works, Detroit,” indicating Great Lakes maritime origin and industrial craftsmanship. The body is solid brass with a cast-iron hinged lid, reflecting traditional shipbuilding materials and construction.
The glass is intact and in very good condition, with minor roughness in one small area consistent with age and service. Overall condition is very good, with honest wear that adds to its maritime character. A substantial, heavy piece ideal for nautical décor, collectors, or maritime history enthusiasts.
