Here is a vintage 5-string left-handed Appalachian Mountain banjo. I picked this up at an antique shop in central Virginia, not far from the Appalachian Mountains, but I really don’t know much about it. There is no signature that I can find, but it is definitely made in the exact style used by Stanley Hicks. I don’t know when it was made, but it’s definitely got some age. It is all hand made.
The banjo measures approximately 36” long, 10.25” wide and 2” deep. I don’t know the type of wood. The head has spotting, but no holes. The bridge is missing. It only has three of the five metal strings and two frets are missing. The top of the neck and peg head are slightly warped (hard to photograph).
Please let me know if you have any questions.
