This is a c1910 original Tobacco Cigarette Premium Leather College seal and these were giveaways in the early 1900's for only a short time around 1910 and a couple years around this date.

These miniature leather pennants were free when you bought a pack of cigarettes from mainly these 4 brands of cigarettes, Mogul, Murad, Egyplienne Straights and Turkey Red.

The seal is in very nice condition with nice sides  and corners  and soft leather  and  measures about 2" by 2 5/8". The seal is beautifully embossed (see picture). White specks are lint.

You are buying a piece of history - over 100-years old!  These are collector’s items.

This was a way of getting people to buy their brand of cigarettes as the companies introduced the first line of collectible series. These miniature leather pennants and seals were free when you bought a pack of cigarettes from mainly these 4 brands of cigarettes, Mogul, Murad, Egyplienne Straights and Turkey Red.

There were numerous styles of these leather pennants & seals – probably for the different companies. The pennants & seals were stenciled or embossed on the 1 15/16” x 2 9/16” rectangular leather. The designs vary as follows: 

Seals

·       Embossed with gold or silver about 1 ¼ inch diameter vertical orientation

·       Embossed with gold or silver about 1 ¼ inch diameter horizontal orientation

·       Embossed with no color

·       Embossed with gold or silver diameter of about ¾ inch

·       Embossed with school name stamped under seal

·       Stencil on white leather
