6X4 Vintage card typed in German signed in blue fountain pen ink by Kurt Versock with a note in German along the left side. Very nice. The back of the card he typed a list of Knight Cross Holders.
(1895-1963) Kurt Versock was a German general who was awarded the Knight's Cross during World War II. Versock joined the army in 1914, taking part in World War I. After the war he was retained in the Reichswehr and then served in the Wehrmacht. He took part in the Invasion of Poland in 1939 and Operation Barbarossa as front-line commander. In August 1942, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. In May 1943 he was appointed commander of the 24th Infantry Division. In September 1944, he was appointed commander of the XXXXIII Army Corps and tasked with the organization of the coastal defense of the Courland operation. In November 1944 he was promoted to General der Gebirgstruppe. In March 1945 the General Command of the XXXXIII Army Corps was evacuated overseas from the Courland Pocket and added to the 8th army in Northern Hungary. At the end of the war, Kurt Versock surrendered to the American forces.

(Comradeship Circle of the Former 24th Infantry Division)
Aachen, July 18, 1959
Dear Mr. Kiesele,
Please excuse me for not having written to you for over a year. The reason is that I have been suffering from health problems (angina pectoris). Because of that, I only take care of the most urgent matters right away and handle other things when I have the opportunity.
Today, I was able to go through a forgotten folder and found your letters from February 14, 1958, and your card from July 19, 1958.
First of all, many thanks for your kind birthday wishes from 1958!
Before I send you the addresses of all the Knight’s Cross recipients (Ritterkreuzträger) of the 24th Infantry Division, I would first like to know which names you are missing.
I have therefore included a list on the back with the names.
Please write me a postcard with the names you still need, and I will send you the addresses.
With best regards,
K. Versock
(Chairman of the Kameradschaftsring der ehem. 24. Inf.-Division), “I am writing you about the 23rd and 24th Infantry Divisions.”
On the verso, he provides a list of the Knight's Cross names as requested.
Comes with a full Letter of Authenticity from Todd Mueller Authentics.
