3.5X5.25 Sepia vintage picture postcard signed in black fountain pen ink by Alexander Ferdinand Ludolf von Quast.  A chip to the lower-left corner, otherwise nice.

(1850-1939) Ferdinand von Quast was a Prussian military officer, and a general in the First World War. Ferdinand von Quast came from an old Prussian noble family. He joined the Prussian Army as a cadet in 1869 and participated in the Franco-Prussian War (1870–1871) as a young officer. During this campaign, he fought in several key battles and received early commendations for courage and discipline.

After the war, Quast continued his military career through the ranks, serving in staff positions and regimental commands. By the early 1900s, he had established a reputation as a capable officer with strong organizational skills and an understanding of modern infantry tactics.

He is often remembered as one of the steady, dependable generals of the German Army during the Great War — not as flamboyant as some of his contemporaries (like Ludendorff or Hindenburg), but consistently effective and respected by his troops.
