SO UNUSUAL and SO NORWEGIAN, as it reads ---- CHRISTIAINIA NORGE---- which translates into that city in Norway that from 1814-1905 was the Capital of Norway. (Now OSLO I think ....)
Hand made by a BERGEN silversmith ....MARIUS HAMMER listed 1847-1927 and what a GREAT FULL FIGURE detailed WARRIOR. The BOWL ... I just am not "up on my Norwegian History" ...but must have significance to Christiana, Norway. Two LIONS with perhaps a RELIGEOUS MAN (halo around his head) holding ARROWS in one hand ....a DISC of sorts in the other. NOW ... LADY (perhaps naked ....) reclined in front of all that ...between the LIONS! ---- Be STILL my pounding heart ...WHAT A FIND!
Did you see the LION on the Warriors SHILED? ...OH you DID NOT!
Add the fine twisted stem ...this COULD go to ANY MUSEUM!
