Frontier Design TransPortWireless Remote Control for Legacy DAW systems
For sale is a used Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) "TranzPort" remote control from Frontier Design Group. The unit comes with an attachment that enables it to be stand-mounted (on a standard microphone stand or similar) plus the required USB-A connector for wireless connection to a host computer.
The TranzPort is battery powered (four AA batteries, not included) and connects wirelessly via a USB dongle (supplied) and, with appropriate drivers (available from the product page on the frontierdesign web site) can be used to operate a number of common functions in as variety of legacy industry standard DAW applications including Pro Tools (up to Pro Tools 2018 in HUI mode) as well as older versions of Logic, Cubase, Nuendo, Sonar, and more (via HUI or Mackie Control Emulation).
Per the manufacturer's description, using TranzPort, you can:
- Adjust monitor mix settings from inside an iso booth, or easily record instruments that are physically incompatible with your workspace (piano, drums, etc.)
- Get creative in an environment away from the computer (living room, lounge, etc.) without having to run back and forth to the workstation
- Control your recording while physically removing yourself from unwanted computer noise and monitor hum
- Add a set of basic DAW controls to a second location in a studio (producer’s desk, separate room, etc.)
- Remotely control your computer from onstage in live performance without messy cable runs
- And much more!
The TranzPort controller is compatible with macOS (versions 10.4–10.13) and Windows (from XP to Windows 7/8/early 10). It works well on Intel-based Macs, but does not support Apple Silicon.
