Anubis: He is considered one of the most famous deities in ancient Egypt. He is the god of mummification, the guide of souls in the afterlife, and the son of both (Osiris, Nephthys). It takes the form of a human with the head of a "jackal".

Anubis: After Anubis's incorporation into the Osiris myth, he was seen as Osiris' protector and right-hand man who guarded the god's corpse, supervised mummification, and assisted Osiris in courting the souls of the dead.

People invoked Anubis - as documented by amulets and burial drawings - for protection and revenge, especially as a powerful ally in casting curses on others and in self-defense from the curses themselves.
