- Former Screaming Trees drummer Mark Pickerel reinvented himself as a front man and resurfaced in 2006 with this collection of dark tales set in a variety of desolate locations. Pickerel's voice has the shaky intensity of an unholy combination of Roy Orbison and Chris Isaak, while the ramshackle production, overseen by grunge legend Steve Fisk, provides an appropriately unsettling musical backdrop.
Professional Reviews: Magnet (p.102) - "Pickerel's deep, sonorous baritone matches the melancholy material."
Mojo (Publisher) (p.114) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Steel guitar whine, meaty Morricone twang, stark rhythms and atmospheric electronic touches propel plucky love songs..."
