Rare EARLY 1862 Civil War HAND WRITTEN General Orders, by Direction of President Lincoln, Regarding Troop Assignments & Organization, INCLUDING MAJOR GENERAL GRANT and ROSECRANS

DESCRIPTION: I apologize for my photos appearing light.....the document is excellent, just that it was done with a fine pen size.  This is a particularly nice General Orders (#168), issued by hand (not printed) from the Adjustant General's Office in Washington on Oct. 24, 1862. 

I)   "BY DIRECTION OF THE PRESIDENT.....THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, EAST OF THE TENNESSEE RIVER, AND SUCH PARTS OF NORTHERN ALABAMA AND GEORGIA AS MAY BE TAKEN POSSESSION OF BY UNITED STATES TROOPS, WILL CONSTITUTE THE DEPARTMENT OF THE CUMBERLAND".

II)  "MAJOR GENERAL W.S. ROSECRANS IS ASSIGNED TO THE COMMAND OF THE DEPARTMENT OF THE CUMBERLAND".

III)  "THE TROOPS UNDER THE COMMOND OF MAJOR GENERAL GRANT WILL CONSTITUTE THE 13th ARMY CORPS;  AND THOSE ASSIGNED TO THE COMMAND OF MAJOR GENERAL ROSECRANS WILL LCONSTITUTE THE 14th ARMY CORPS....."

This is a great early HAND WRITTEN DOCUMENT in ink, mentioning U.S. GRANT, Rosecrans, & Lincoln.   Great for any collection and quite suitable for framing.   Excellent condition.    Measures 7 3/4" x 10".
