Travel back in time with this classic old electric guitar. Built by the late, great Valco Company in Chicago, Illinois, it's a Supro Lexington, model S625.

Serial number 1-68933. According to Gruhn's Guide, these 1- prefix serial number were used from 1965 to 1968. So, it's from right around when Valco bought Kay in 1967, before folding in 1968. Valco made National guitars and was founded by one of the Dopyera brothers who also co-founded the original Dobro company.

This is the one pickup model. Solid body with foxy sunburst to black finish. Kluson Deluxe tuners. The pickup looks like a humbucker but is single-coil. Excellent neck. Excellent low action: 5/64" on the bass side and 4/64" on the treble side. The pickguard contracted, chipping three of the corners at the screw holes. I put a small washer around the screw by the 1/4" output jack to prevent the pickguard from lifting.

There's some ordinary age and play wear, with some scuffs, but looks very good. The SUPRO decal on the headstock is peeling up a bit on the corners. Volume and tone controls. We cleaned the pots with DeOxit, so the controls should be basically static-free.

It comes in the original chipboard case, which is in good condition. The case handle, hinges, and latches, all work properly.

This guitar looks really cool. And sounds hot. Supro/Valco had a reputation for hot pickups, and this one is no exception, reading out at 9.26k ohms.

It's a fabulous All-American, not common, guitar, ready for a new owner.
