The latest firmware, released in May 2019, now supports Roon. It supports DSD 2.8/5.6MHz, PCM 192kHz/24bit, DSF, DSDIFF, FLAC, Apple Lossless, WAV, AIFF, MP3, and AAC. It also supports gapless playback of all lossless formats, ensuring seamless playback of live and opera recordings. PCM 384kHz/32bit can be played natively in USB DAC mode and down-converted in network mode. The D/A converter and analog circuitry use the Asahi Kasei Microdevices AK4490 chipset, featuring a parallel/differential configuration with four differential circuits (8 outputs) per channel. A 34-bit D/A processing algorithm converts 34-bit high-resolution PCM signals to analog signals. The ESOTERIC-HCLD Type 2 buffer amplifier boasts powerful current transmission and driving power. Each channel is equipped with two circuits, driven differentially for XLR output and in parallel for RCA output. The clock circuit uses a VCXO (voltage-controlled crystal oscillator), developed jointly by Esoteric and NDK (Nihon Dempa Kogyo) specifically for high-quality audio playback.
