Antique and vintage items make nicer than new gifts
Item
Myott and Son (est 1898), in the heart of England's Potteries District, is one of the great names in Art Deco innovation in the 1930s through its use of vibrant freehand colour and extravagant shapes.
For those who love Myott's gorgeous geometric vases, especially the fan shape, we are listing a much less common 12 pc breakfast set. In the best traditions of Myott's Art Deco pedigree, it features a flamboyant abstract design in yellow, green and a pinky-brown with the artist's carefree brushstrokes clearly visible.
The set comprises a round plate with places for five egg cups; four square side plates, a long serving plate; and a round pedestal serving plate.
We considered splitting up the items into three listings, but decided that it was so rare to find a complete set in such good condition that we decided to keep them together.
However, please note that we also have two small matching vases in the same pattern, which we are listing separately.
Condition
Whenever possible our asking prices are based on either our knowledge of the genre and rareness or on what similar pieces have been sold for on the international market, rather than what some sellers are asking, which are usually two very different things!
You will normally find that our prices sit somewhere in the middle between auction and professional dealer prices and the current market. We are always willing to consider realistic offers, but please bear in mind that this set comprises 12 pieces.
Shipping
We have a 100pc success rate for over a decade in successfully shipping fragile antiques and collectables across the UK and the wider World. We only charge what the Post Office and couriers charge us and subsidise the cost of packing materials.
International shipping? Since Covid, we have started to use Ebay's Global Shipping Programme for packages over 2kg because it has proved to be competitive and reliable.
