I am selling a vintage Marklin Deutsche Bundesbahn BR89 class 0-6-0 steam locomotive that was received as part of a bulk delivery from Japan with N scale items that I normally deal with.
The Marklin model number is 3000, and comes in its original box which has also seen better days as research indicates that this is version released around 1960.
The unit is undamaged with no visible missing parts or broken pieces, but the centre contact slide is moderately worn. It has a single high mount and twin low mounted headlights
The chassis is metal but the shell is plastic, and it carries a road number of 89028. The only other issue to report is that the polystyrene insert is breaking up due to its age.
Originally I was selling this as 'not working / spare parts', but have now received an oval track and transformer set from Japan.
The casing was removed, the mechanisms sprayed with Inox and then tested, resulting in the unit working surprisingly well.
The tyres are in reasonable condition and the headlight bulb is working, but the reversing lever is a little loose which suggests that the linkage spring shown in the last two photos requires replacement.
Otherwise, the motor unit itself works well at various power settings.
Postage Australia wide will be $15.00 with tracking number provided. Combined postage is available on request, as well as local pickup from West Brunswick Victoria.
As this is a powered unit, returns are accepted that it is received 'dead on arrival' with the buyer to contact me within seven days of the confirmed delivery date.
