This 7-¼ x 8-¾ inch, 170 page illustrated hardcover book examines the daring exploits of the Hoosier flying ace during his war time service. A graduate of DePauw University, Vraciu learned to fly during his college years and joined the Navy before the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. Vraciu became skilled in the deadly game of destroying the enemy in the skies over the Pacific and for 4 months in 1944, was the leading ace in the U.S. Navy. He shot down 19 enemy airplanes in the air and destroyed and additional 21 on the ground.
