SONY Walkman cassette player WM-609 operation confirmed
Description
We have carried out the following maintenance (overhaul) on this machine.
・Removal of each gear, cleaning, removing stuck parts, and applying grease (high-performance grease containing fluororesin PTFE fine particles)
・Capstan shaft polishing (using Picard)
・Replacement of drive rubber belt
The rubber belt was replaced with a new one.
・Replace the pinch roller with a new one
The pinch roller was replaced with a new one.
・Improve the contact points of the volume part
We use Keig D5S, which is famous for cleaning and restoring the contacts of audio equipment, etc., to improve the contacts.
I think the sound is clearer and more transparent.
・Adjustment of tape running speed
I adjusted it to 440Hz (A sound) using a test tape.
·aging
The case had probably been dormant for many years, so I played the tape in auto-reverse mode for about 10 hours and aged it (energized).
・Head demagnetization
We use a head eraser to demagnetize the head.
・General
We have greased or refueled each driving part and metal contact parts.
[Condition after maintenance]
・About fast forward/rewind/playback
We have confirmed that fast forwarding/rewinding/playing works without any problems.
・About auto-reverse function
We have confirmed that it switches smoothly.
Also, switching the auto reverse mode is working without any problems.
・Switching TAPE mode
The switching between NORMAL / CrO2 METAL tape is working without any problems.
・About DOLBY NR (Dolby B)
DOLBY is working without any problems.
・About DBB function
It's working without any problems.
・About volume
It operates smoothly without any glitches.
