Confirmed with the artist via email, Matthew explained that this untitled acrylic on canvas piece was once done as a commission for a personal friend of his.  Matthew mentioned that, like many artists, he started with acrylics on canvas, moved on to oils on canvas, and now primarily only works with oils on panels.  He added that all of his acrylic works have been sold off long ago and that he only has one remaining in his personal collection.
