This is a set of 12 vintage Madeira hand made embroidered napkins.  The Irish linen is a 'natural' or bone colored linen with heavier body than some.  Terrific body.  Fine skilled hand embroidery in taupe floss.  Open work in plant or flower pod.  Padded stitchwork great.  Buttonhole stitch scalloped edges.  Simple and sophisticated pattern.  Couple pics on a white damask linen to show the contrast in color, modest but present.  The quality of this set is very similar to Marghab linens. 

A beautiful addition to any linen embroidery collection.   An easy way to beautiful your meals.

Just out of storage after half a century or so I gave them a long gentle soak, hand wash and light pressing.  Clean and ready to use.   They are in beautiful pre-owned gently used condition, very little wear/use.  I would guess they have now been laundered less than a handful of times.   3 had some fairly light spotting,  see detail pics for general idea.  1 had multiple little spots, 1 had small lipstick mark which I don't see now, if I missed something it is small.   I did not pre-treat and used Quilt Soap in soaks, may lighten further with spot treating if desired.  No holes or worn spots.   Great linen body. Very modest wear on scalloped buttonhole stitch hems.  Elegant naps with a sophisticated Madeira pattern.
