Antique Ming Period Kosometsuke Landscape Figural Chinese Porcelain Lidded Box

Antique Ming Period Kosometsuke Landscape Chinese Porcelain Kaiseki Dish

Description

Very happy and delighted with this new arrival. A very nicely potted, shaped and painted blue and white Kosometsuke piece in nice cobalt blue!

Visible in the pictures is a lidded box of octagonal shape on three feet. It's an early 17th century Jingdezhen piece for the Japanese market, Kosometsuke ware.
The main scene on the lid show a group of 3 probably travellers in a landscape scene. The sides with floral design. The scene must have a meaning but research still needs to be done. If anyone knows all information is welcome!

The restorations are done with some kind of metal, either silver or lead in our opinion.
