Chrome outer trim/beauty rings
for factory
Alloy wheels
15" ~ 1991-95
~ Set of 4 ~
After-market replacement for Rolls-Royce part #: UR 71653
This set consists of 4 x outer rim trim rings with all clips attached ready to install. It is "plug & play".
*** These are an after-market chrome ABS plastic replica trim-ring ***
ONLY the 4 trim rings please. NOT the centre caps.
These are an after-market set
of 4 x chrome trim rings that fit on the outside perimeter of the 15" alloy road
wheel provided on all Rolls-Royces from 1991 thru to 1995.
If you are looking at this listing, you know the problem whereby these trim
rings will fly off over the most trivial road bump or slightest curb bump.
The factory trim rings are very expensive. Made of stainless steel and held on
by 5 plastic perimeter clips secured by spring steel retainers that bite on to
the edge of the alloy wheel edge. They require experience of how to attach
securely and yet, even when attended to by a professional, offer no guarantee
nor comfort of them NOT flying off without warning.
The factory stainless steel rings were over $350 each but no longer available and then once you buy the
clips and retainers, a whole set on a car can cost close to $1,500. Used trim
rings are very hard to find and you can pay between $200 to $300 each. So you are
still around the $1,000+ mark.
These aftermarket trim rings are an ABS chromed plastic. Do not laugh, once
mounted, only the professional would pick they are not the genuine
article. They are also attached in a far more secure manner with a spring
retaining edge clip that bites on to the outside of the alloy wheel rim. Unlike
the original units which can be pulled off by hand, these require a small pry
bar or hub-cap removal tool to remove. Are they perfect and are they the genuine article? No, but they will look the part and do not fall off! All at a tiny fraction of the genuine price.
If yours a missing, these are a great substitute. If you are lucky enough to
still have your factory ones, remove them and keep them for safe storage to
refit at you next Rolls-Royce event - and then run on these. If you hit a curb
or it gets rashed, it doesn't really matter.
So many Spirits, Spurs, Corniches are driving around with all their chrome trim
rings removed because an owner has lost one or more and simply found it easier
to remove the remaining units to keep consistency. But rest assured, although
you might be getting used to the chrome trim rings missing, the car looks naked
without them. And certainly looks ghastly when the ring has fallen off and you
can see the remaining black retaining clips doing nothing.
So before you hear that infamous "ga-ding, ding, ding, ding" when a
factory trim ring comes off whilst driving, bouncing across the freeway about to
get run over by another car... or you spend 30 minutes walking up and down the
road side edge looking for your lost trim ring thinking; "it was around
this part of the road... somewhere?!".... Buy a set of these. You will not
regret it.
$170 + shipping of around $15 to all US States. Will ship world-wide with
shipping costs in accordance to applicable charges.
*** PLEASE - These are chrome ABS plastic and of course will never look as perfect as hand finished stainless steel from the factory. Chrome ABS will always have small little imperfections as a result of the typical manufacturing processes used and you may see these when inspecting close up. Once installed, however, you will barely see these. So, lets put this in perspective; +/-$40 each for one of these vs some $300+ each for factory ones. $170 a set vs $1,500 including applicable clips and retainers. So kindly, please buy these with a realistic expectation of final look. If you an absolute purist (and there is nothing wrong with that!), these are not for you. They are simply a low cost, decent looking alternative to the real thing. That all said, once installed, it is a huge improvement over missing wheel trim rings! ****
Installation guide: Remove all existing clips and retainers on existing alloy wheel trim that would normally need to be in place for a factory wheel trim-ring. Clean the edge. Align the plastic chrome trim ring so that all the clips are sitting over the wheel rim lip. With a rubber mallet, tap each part of the trim ring where the clips are, just enough for it to start to grab over the wheel edge. Do not try to completely secure each clip one at a time but instead, lightly secure all five clips bit by bit. Then, just as you would systematically tighten wheel studs/nuts on any road wheel, go around the trim (or in star fashion) and tap the clip location a little more so that it secures tighter over the wheel rim/edge. Keep going around the trim ring until the inside (unseen) edge of the trim ring is sitting snug with the alloy wheel rim and you can see all 5 clips are firmly in place. Look closely at all photos for reference.
