The bamboo flute is one of the oldest instruments known in the world. Samples of its predecessor, the Bone Flute, have survived from 40,000 years in the past, with examples having been discovered in China that dated 9,000 years. Early bamboo flutes date back to the 11th and 12th century. They have been featured in ancient artwork from India and China and have become common in areas where bamboo grows in the wild.

This Steinard Bamboo Flute is a modern representation of this timeless instrument. Made in Indonesia, this flute has 6 finger holes with a comfortably shaped mouthpiece.
