“VORVADOS ENGINEERING” is a brand launched by SYU, the guitarist of Galneryus.

Despite his busy schedule as a guitarist, SYU has been passionately designing and building effect pedals every night. To date, he has crafted hundreds of pedals, many of which he has personally used during his live performances.

Leveraging this wealth of experience, he officially launched his own brand, “VORVADOS ENGINEERING,” on September 23, 2023! As its inaugural product, the “VORVADOS_OVERDRIVE” was released.

Overview of the Pedal

This pedal primarily serves as a boost-type pedal, used to push a slightly overdriven amp by blending the GAIN and BURN knobs to craft your unique sound.

The pedal’s standout feature is its exceptional response speed, making it ideal for fast-picking guitarists, especially in the HR/HM genre.

The GAIN and BURN knobs operate independently:

• GAIN Knob: Turning it clockwise boosts the internal operational amplifier IC, creating a midrange-rich boosted sound.

• BURN Knob: Turning it clockwise boosts the internal MOSFET, resulting in a sharp, fast-response boost sound with excellent clarity.

By blending the effects of these two knobs, you can create a one-of-a-kind sound.

Controls

• LEVEL Knob (Top Left): Adjusts the overall volume.

• GAIN Knob (Top Right): Controls the distortion level of the internal operational amplifier. Turning it clockwise increases the distortion. Even at its minimum setting, a slight amount of distortion is retained.

• BURN Knob (Bottom Left): Controls the distortion level of the internal MOSFET. Turning it clockwise increases the distortion. While turning this knob, you may hear a slight crackling noise—this is a normal feature, not a defect.

• TONE Knob (Bottom Right): Adjusts the tonal balance. Turning it clockwise increases the high frequencies, while turning it counterclockwise reduces them.

Creating Your Sound

Basic tone shaping can be achieved using the LEVEL, GAIN, and TONE knobs to produce a classic overdrive sound. To enhance this, you can gradually add the BURN knob to the mix.

Once you’re familiar with the pedal, you can experiment further, such as minimizing the GAIN and using the BURN knob to increase distortion.

SYU’s Recommended Settings

1. Overdrive Setting (Works with both single-coil and humbucker pickups)

• LEVEL: MAX

• GAIN: Around 10 o’clock

• BURN: Minimum

• TONE: Between 12 and 1 o’clock

2. Boosted Push-Up Setting (Works with both single-coil and humbucker pickups)

• LEVEL: MAX

• GAIN: Around 8 o’clock

• BURN: Around 10 o’clock

• TONE: Centered
