This is an original antique Brass Age foldout advertising mailer still in the original mailing envelope issued by The Automatic Signal and Sign Company of Canton, Ohio.   This mailer advertises the company’s Automatic Highway Signals which are described as “The Highway Sign that reflects a white light red!”.    This mailer is printed on slick cardstock and folds open to about 19-3/8” x 5” including a detachable reply postcard at the bottom.  The mailer is illustrated with photos and drawings and has lots of detailed information on these early road signs which were mounted on poles 5 feet tall and had a large 12” square lens with a large DANGER sign mounted at the top.   The mailer touts these visibility of these highway warning signs as “…a glowing iridescent ball of red fire at any point from one hundred to several thousand feet.”

This mailer shows 1919 patent dates for these Automatic Highway Signals and has calendars for August, September and October, 1919 so thus the date.     

This mailer is still in the original mailing envelope and in excellent near mint condition with the envelope showing just light wear.  Overall condition is excellent.  Email any questions.  Thanks for looking.
