Vivitar Series1 Reflex 450mm f/4.5 in case + matched 2x-Multiplier

Dies ist eines der exotischsten (und seltenen) CAT-Objektive, die je hergestellt wurden: 

Extrem lichtstark mit f/4.5 und leichtgewichtig, weil die riesige Front-Meniskus-Platte aus PMMA-Polymer hergestellt wurde. Auch dieses exotische Bauteil ist heute noch optisch kristall-klar!

Achtung: dies ist kein "solid CAT"-Objektiv!

Vorgestellt auf der Photokina 1982 wurde es ab 1983 geliefert. Die Fertigung wurde nach kurzer Laufzeit wieder eingestellt, da der Amateur-Markt das extrem teure Objektiv nicht aufnahm, obwohl sich Series1-Objektive bis zu dem Jahr 1982 einen Ruf wie Donnerhall erworben hatten (was sich bis heute an gut erhaltenen, Exemplaren dieser Zeit als berechtigt nachweisen läßt!).

Hervorstechende Eigenschaften:

• Extrem hohe Lichtstärke 1:4.5,
• sehr geringes Gewicht (ca. 1,6 kg) dank einer Polymer-Korrektorplatte (PMMA) im Lichteintritt,
• Asphärische Korrektor-Platte (frontseitig durch eine dünne Glasplatte gegen Feuchtigkeit geschützt),
• vollständig abgedichtete Bauweise zum Schutz des PMMA gegen Feuchtigkeit (die Optik ist bis heute nach >40 Jahren immer noch kristall-klar!),
• sehr nahe Einstellgrenze (3,5 m),
• Innenfokussierung,
• vollständige Kautschukummantelung des Gehäuses,
• T2-Gewinde-Anschluss und damit leicht an jede Kamera zu adaptieren!

• Vivitar Ser1-T2-Adapter für Olympus-OM mit orig. OM-Kappe und Kipon T2-Nikon-Adapter mit orig. Nikon-Kappe. 

Zustand:

Generell seht guter, sauberer Zustand - Nichtraucher-Haushalt. Praktisch keine Benutzungsspuren (s. Bilder). Die Kautschuk-Ummantelung ist in einem sehr guten Zustand - stellenweise treten die typischen weißlichen „Ausblühungen“ in der Oberfläche auf - allerdings nur leichter Form - s. Bilder!.

Die zentrale vordere Abdeck-Blechkappe für den Sekundärspiegel (mit Series1-Logo) hat eine Delle und kleine Lack-Abplatzer (s.Bild). Es sind keine Schäden in der Optik als Folge davon zu erkennen -  die MTF-Symmetrie-Fehler sind mit 2,7% und 13,5% noch ordentlich für ein nicht abgeblendetes, lichtstarkes System  - (s. Grafiken)

Vivitar Series1 Reflex 450mm f/4.5 in case + matched 2x-Multiplier

This is one of the most exotic (and RARE) exotic CAT-lenses ever:

 

High light-gathering ability with f/4.5 and lightweight, because the big (and thick!) front-corrector-plate is made of the polymer PMMA. This exotic front lens still is cristal-clear!

Attention: this is NOT a "solid CAT"-lens!

First shown at Photokina 1982 it was delivered in 1983 (made by US-company OPCON). Production ceased after a short period and a few thousand lenses made. Quality obviously was not the reason for that, but probably the very high price for the amateur market.

Due to this the lens is VERY RARE!

Extraordinaty properties:

• Very fast for a CAT-lens: 1:4.5,
• very low weight (ca. 1,6 kg) due to the polymer-corrector-plate (PMMA) at the front,
• aspherische corrector-plate (which is protected against humidity with a thin glass-plate in front),
• hermetical construction to protect the Polymer against humidity (after >40 years the lens is still crystal-clear!),
• very close focus (3,5 m),
• internal focussing,
• complete rubber-couting of barrel and click-on sunshade,
• T2-thread - easy to fit on any camera!

Attention: if you use such a lens in cold weather, be sure, that you cool the complete lens down to ambient before taking photos! This is valid for any long focal-length above 200mm - and ESPECIALLY for CATs!

Condition:

Generally very clean  - from non-smoker household. Very few traces of use (s. pictures). The rubber coating is in very good condition - with some of the white „blooming“ areas , which are typical for many rubber-surfaces of the 70s and 80s - but in a moderate appearance (see pictures).

The central front metal covering cap for the secondary mirror (with Series1-Logo) has a local deformation and small paint-defects (see pictures). There is no sign of damage in the optics or in the resolution measurement results for the lens (normal values of MTF-asymmetry with 2,7% and 13,5%) - (see graph).
