Description: Scarce tie-in to the Casanova movie directed by Alexandre Volkoff, starring Ivan Mosjoukine as Casanova and Suzanne Bianchetti as Catherine II. 

Original hardback in original dustwrapper. 6.75 by 4.25 inches. The dustwrapper is in attractive condition with some wear and tears and a small loss to the bottom of the spine (see pictures). The book itself is likewise in attractive condition with light wear and fading (see pictures). Toning to leaves as usual.  Free of inscriptions. Binding sound and square. 

The Readers Library was established in England by Derwent Hall Caine and Gordon Ralph Hall Caine, sons of the author Hall Caine, in 1924. Readers Library titles were said to be selected by “one of the most distinguished of living men of letters”, presumably Hall Caine himself. The books were known for their interesting and sometimes sensational dustwrappers, and were sold for sixpence in Woolworths and in train station bookshops.  Relatively few examples in jackets have survived.
