Historical Notes:

Some of these institutions are ancestors of banks still existing. For instance, Ambler’s private bank became Ambler National Bank in 1874, then the Bank Of The State Of Florida, which in 1903 was absorbed by the Atlantic National Bank, which in turn became First Union National Bank Of Florida, which was acquired by Wachovia.

Notes on John Stockton

Stockton, John N.C., Legislator, banker, was born in c. 1860 in Gadsden Co, FL. For many years he has been the president of the National Bank of Tampa, and the National Bank of Florida. In 1897 he served with distinction as a member of the Flordia state legislature. After his father's death, when he was twelve years old, the Stocktons moved to Jacksonville. ...Entering the employ of D. G. Ambler as bookkeeper in 1878, he was at the end of five years admitted to partnership under the firm name of Ambler, Marvin & Stockton. 
In 1885 he helped organize the National Bank of the State of Florida and was chosen cashier. ...He organized the First National Bank of Tampa in 1887...Headed the Ortega Company which platted and developed Ortega in 1906.Active in politics. Duval County Commission, delegate to many conventions, Elected to the state legislature from Duval County in 1896. One of the first to offer a resolution asking for state primary elections.

CONDITION:  Normal letter folds and in very excellent condition. THE "EBAY ITEM" thing is just a loose piece of paper that is not attached to the billhead.
