I have here for sale a handy vintage green or lawn bowls pin and string measuring tool. Just push the first pin into the lawn at one bowl and take the other pin to the next bowl etc and the string length will give you a good idea of distances between opposing bowls.

The string unwinds easily to about 10 feet in length.
