DESCRIPTION:
Old, qualitative, beautiful, authentic and artistic work, of Greek ceramic art, handmade, with the traditional and artistic way of ceramic art. It is hand painting, work enamel, refractory, (burning, at 1000 degrees C.), glazed, which has been crafted by the important Greek artist, Angelos Tsakirakis. It is signed lower right with the initials "A.T". Consist of a total, four tiles, (20X10 cm each one), is surrounded by a wood frame and there is a hanger so this can be hung on the wall. Depicts with wonderful combination of the enamel colors, Karagiozis long-handed with cursed serpent. Karagiozis is a central character of the traditional Greek and Turkish shadow theater.
Dimensions: Without frame, 40 X 20 cm, (or 15 6/8 X 8 in), with woden frame, 42 X 22 cm (or 16 4/8 X 8 5/8 in) & weight, 1.660 gr. Is in excellent condition. We do our best to describe everything thoroughly and accurately. Angelos Tsakirakis (1934-2006) was important Greek artist, ceramicist and painter. Studied in Doxiadis School and served the ceramic art, modestly, with love and dedication over forty years. He has created, handmade and hand painting ceramics masterpieces, classical and modern, which they liked a lot in the art lovers. Draws his themes from various sources, mythology, history, legends, and generally from the Greek tradition and culture. Today the authentic ceramics Tsakirakis, are highly collectible, especially for those who know and appreciate the ceramic art. Tsakirakis he had friendship and collaboration with top artists of his era, such as Yannis Tsarouchis,(see last photo, in the center is Tsarouchis and on the right is Tsakirakis), Constantinos Grammatopoulos, etc. Especially Yannis Tsarouchis who it had also dealt and with the ceramic art, (from 1981 in pottery of Maroussi), he admired the art and talent of Tsakirakis. His works are found in private collections in Greece and abroad.
