Apparently, the Greek god Achilles was the first to heal wounds with yarrow, which is why the Latin generic name of this plant comes from his name. In the Middle Ages, yarrow was one of the herbs used to flavour beer. He was also a popular vegetable. Its young leaves were usually cooked in soup or prepared like spinach. Dried leaves were used as a spice. In folk medicine, yarrow served not only as a dressing, but also as a digestive support, preventing abdominal pain and reducing fever.
