The Flu Game On June 11, 1997 history was made in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The Chicago Bulls were in Utah taking on the Jazz, and Michael Jordan was very sick. Whether it was the flu, food poisoning, or something else MJ was visibly ill. Under these conditions Michael Jordan had one of the defining moments of his career. MJ led the Bulls to victory with 38 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and one block. After hitting the go ahead shot Michael Jordan was carried off the court by Scottie Pippen. MJ was wearing black and red Air Jordan 12s. Scottie Pippen was wearing black and red Zoom Pippen 1 PEs. This is one of the most iconic games in NBA's history.  There are plenty of webpages that highlight the events of the games; as well as numerous photos.  I have included a few of those photos that show Pippen in the exact shoes being sold. These amazing shoes are coming from my personal collection.  I really never thought I would sell them, but I have some unexpected financial burdens I need to satisfy.  You do what you gotta do!  The Shoes Scottie Pippen wore Zoom Pippen 1s in the Flu Game. The shoes are PEs meaning that they are Player Exclusives. Scottie Pippen's Zoom Pippen 1s are different than the regular Air Pippen 1s that were released to the public. Regular Air Pippen 1s feature visible Max Air cushioning while Zoom Pippen 1s feature invisible full length encapsulated Zoom Air cushioning. The reason for the difference is Scottie Pippen liked to play closer to the floor. The Pippen 1 was Scottie Pippen's first signature shoe. It was designed by Aaron Cooper. The shoes are black, red, and white. The uppers are primarily made of nubuck. They feature plastic squiggly lines on them that were inspired by Scottie's number 33. The shoes feature Scottie Pippen's PIP logos on the tongues and heels. These were Scottie Pippen's original logos. These shoes are dual-signed by Scottie Pippen. The right shoe also includes the inscription "To Preston," on it. These shoes came from Preston Truman, the Utah Jazz ball boy. The Documentation These shoes come with all kinds of documentation (all photoed and are part of this listing). The documentation includes a letter of opinion from MEARS, two letters of authenticity from JSA; from Grey Flannel Auctions, a letter of provenance from Preston Truman and Description of the lot that originally sold on January 20th, 2021. It even comes with the original "MEARS Official Shoe Workskeet" {Sic}. I'm sure they meant worksheet ;-) The MEARS letter states that the shoes were worn by Scottie Pippen in the Flu Game. The letter of provenance from Truman states, "I, Preston Truman, former Utah Jazz ballboy received this pair of sneakers directly from Scottie Pippen after Game 5 of the NBA Finals. I was fortunate enough to work in the visitor's locker room and forged relationships with many players.
