'Big John' was Captain and Coach of the 1972 Premiership side...kicking six goals in the Grand Final.

He also played in the Premiership sides in 1968 and 1970.

Captained Carlton 1963, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974.

He was Coach of Carlton Blues in 97 games - 1972 to 1975 - and won 63 of those games...also won five Best & Fairest awards in a wonderful career as an AFL footballer.
