Here is what appears to be a hard to find vintage Star Wars watch and it says 1977.  Nice looking Gold case, rarely seen for a Star Wars watch. It starts and has continued for a half hour without stopping so far.

I think with a good  service and cleaning and reglue of the crystal, I believe it should be fine. To note the crystal would be reglued due to servicing anyways so don't let that bother you. With age, sometimes the old glue just finally gives way.
