MINDBURNER MIDI MASTER CLOCK
This device is a 1 input, 4 output, accurate and stable MIDI master clock generator for synths and modules.
Now with built in MIDI metronome with audible click. This can be switched off if not required. Makes a DAW clock accuracy look laughable.
Power:
✫Pretty much any 2.1mm 12v DC supply 1A+ capacity, tip positive.
✫The type on eBay that are used for LED strip lights work well.
✫Runs nicely off a PP3 9v battery in a 9v to 2.1 mm case.
✫Power draw 75mA.
✫Handy for a quick jam. DC power recommended for long sessions.
✫Option available with UK240v 3 pin to 12v DC power supply.
Modes - Internal/external:
The switch at the left of the unit sets the mode. When the green LED is lit,
the device is set as master clock. The main mode. A standalone clock source, an accurate master for all your other synths and modules. Incoming MIDI data e.g. playing a keyboard will be passed thru from MIDI input to outputs together with the clock. Background clock is always sent in this mode.
When the green LED is off, the device is in external bypass mode. Incoming MIDI data will be passed thru directly MIDI input to outputs. The device generates nothing.
Encoder knob:
This is used to set the tempo. Pressing it down will send start and stop
messages to effectively start and stop the clock. Please note, Style & Size may vary due to stock availability.
Reset:
This resets the device.BPM: The device will restart at the last BPM setting when power was removed. So to set it at 130 for example, simply remove power and it should be 130 when powered up again.
LED display:
This shows tempo BPM. The top rightmost segment flashes to the beat.
The bottom rightmost segment lights up when clock start/stop is being output.
TT:
This allows the user to tap out a beat.
The device will attempt to lock to the tapped tempo.
Remote option:
The 3.5mm jack can be used to remotely start/stop the clock. E.g., A lead could be wired to a remote switch, or a footswitch could be utilised if a 3.5mm to 6.35mm adapter was used.
Features:
- ✫The clock LED indicates background clock activity or MIDI IN activity.
- ✫Metronome audible click.
- ✫MIDI IN data is passed thru to the 4x MIDI outputs in both modes.
- ✫Clock is always running in INTERNAL mode with start and stop commands sent via the encoder button.
- ✫Outputs pass so called 'MIDI power' to power self-powered devices.
- ✫Easy to read white LED display.
- ✫BMP range 10-350.
- ✫Designed and Built in N Ireland.
Expansion:
My MIDI to DINSYNC module can be used to add CV clock options to this stable source. It works well for example to drive a TR606 and TB303 in perfect timing.
Sync to DAW's:
Most DAWs are designed to sync to MTC (MIDI Time Code) rather than MIDI clock. These are not the same thing. My device and many others puts out MIDI clock so it's not really doable, although depending on the DAW, it may be possible.
