Studies show Betaine Anhydrous TMG may assist in:

  • Grab 10% OFF Whilst Stocks Last
  • Supporting Body Composition Goals¹
  • Supporting Strength & Power Performance²
  • Supporting Protein Synthesis (in conjunction with resistance training)³
  • Supporting Muscular Endurance⁴
  • Supporting Homocysteine Balance (as a biochemical marker)⁵
  • Supporting Insulin Pathways (early research only)⁶⁷
  • Supporting Mood Balance (exploratory research)⁸
  • Supporting Aspects of Cognitive Performance⁹
  • Supporting General Wellbeing Outcomes (early research)¹⁰

Betaine, more recently referred to as Trimethylglycine (TMG) gets its name from the three methyl groups attached to each molecule of glycine. It was first isolated from sugar beets in the 19th century and is naturally present in foods such as beets, spinach, quinoa, wheat and other ancient grains.

Because of its structure, betaine plays a role as a methyl donor – a natural process that helps the body carry out normal cellular functions, including maintaining healthy cells under everyday conditions such as hydration and temperature changes.

Put simply, betaine supports everyday cellular balance as part of nutrition and training.

Since the early 2000s, studies have investigated Betaine Anhydrous TMG in relation to:

  • Supporting body composition goals¹
  • Supporting strength and power performance²
  • Supporting protein synthesis (in conjunction with resistance training)³
  • Supporting muscular endurance⁴
  • Supporting homocysteine balance (as a biochemical marker)⁵
  • Supporting insulin pathways (early research only)⁶⁷

Other Areas of Research:

Scientific studies have also explored betaine in a variety of contexts, including:

  • Roles in cellular balance and stress response (Craig et al, 2004)
  • Links to the production of natural compounds such as creatine and SAMe, which are involved in everyday energy and cellular function (Di Pierro et al, 2015)
  • Exploratory research into cognition and general wellbeing (Eussen et al, 2007; Arumugam et al, 2021)
  • Its function as an osmolyte, helping support cell hydration and complementing creatine (Cholewa et al, 2013)

Gluten free and suitable for vegans.

Available in 200g packs.
