Feature:
The AllegroACS758 current sensor IC family provides a cost-effective and accurate solution for AC or DC current sensing. Typical applications include motor control, load detection and management, power and DC-to-DC converter control, inverter control, and overcurrent fault detection.
The device consists of a precise, low-offset, linear Hall sensor circuit with a copper current path close to the chip. The current applied through this copper current path can generate a magnetic field that can be sensed by the integrated Hall IC and converted into a proportional voltage. Optimizing the accuracy of the device by bringing the magnetic signal close to the Hall sensor. The accurate, proportional output voltage is provided by a stable, chopper-type, low-biased BiCMOS Hall IC, which is factory programmed for accuracy.
Allegro's unique integrated screen technology provides high tolerance to current conductor dV / dt signals and stray electric fields, ensuring low output voltage ripple and low offset drift in high-end, high-voltage applications.
The output of the device has a positive slope (> VCC / 2) as the current increases through the main copper conduction path (terminal 4 to terminal 5) used as the current sensing path. The internal resistance of this conduction path is typically 100 μΩ with low power loss.
The thickness of the copper wire allows the device to operate under high overcurrent conditions. The terminals of the conductive path are electrically isolated from the sensor pins (pins 1 to 3). In this way, the ACS758 sensor IC series can be used for applications that require electrical insulation without the use of opto-isolators or other expensive insulation technologies.
