Beautiful bright Kingman turquoise nuggets combine with authentic handmade penn shell heishi to become this old traditional necklace.  The necklace is 24" long and has been strung old style on cord and finished off with sterling hook and eye.  The turquoise nuggets are interspersed with brown penn shell heishi.   Penn Shells are part of the family Pinnidae which are large saltwater clams.  They are usually about 8-10" long with a glisteny iridescent brown and especially shiny on the inside.  The heishi, although smooth and of uniform consistency, will have variations among the beads. There will be a variation in color and thickness or there might be a slight imperfection in the shell or bead. This adds to its unique appearance.
