Golden Sunrise Swiss Chard Seeds

This rich, slightly savoyed green leaves and deep golden stalks, midribs and veins make this a striking beauty.

Good in recipes that use Pak choi or spinach. Use small leaves in salad.

Holds excellent color both when harvested for baby leaf and when fully mature at 2' tall. Very productive plants are tender and succulent with a good flavor. Tolerates slight frost.

Cool season annual

Maturity: Approx. 53-60 days

Planting season: Mid spring/early summer

Cultivation: Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in spring after the last frost in a warm, sunny location or partial shade in hot areas.

In temperate areas, sow in late summer/early fall as well. Keep soil moist. Soak seeds and rinse water 3-4 times before planting.

When sowing swiss chard seeds plant two seeds every 6", keeping rows of seeds at least 18" apart.

Like beets, chard “seeds” produce more than one plant, so will require thinning. When the plant has a strong root structure.

Harvest a couple of leaves from each plant.

Mature plants can be cut back to 1-2" above soil for re-growth for a cut-and-come-again harvest.

Harvest continuously as chard produces as much as three or more crops.
