G652D and G657A2 specifications refer to the glass and cable construction of optical fibre and are generally the fibres of choice in optical fibre patch leads for single mode systems. Both the G652D and G657A2 are compatible and can be used in a tandem arrangement.
However, G652D fibres have limited bend resistance.
G657A2 optical fibre in patch cords provide an improved bend radius and flexibility, which may allow for better cable management and routing in congested areas. It also mitigates the risk of communication failure and/or high power damage under inadvertent bending.
The G657A2 is a powerful solution for access networks where frequent bending and joining of cables and hardware miniaturisation is observed.
