Artist Biography:
Behrens was raised in Washington, D.C. and received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. He then went on to study medical art at John Hopkins University. He later returned to the University of Maryland to receive his degree in painting and sculpture. Upon graduating he went to work for a government printing office in Washington, D.C. where he remanined for 20 years, 10 of which he served as chief artist. In 1980 he had his first one-man show at the Phillips Gallery in West Palm Beach, Florida. His paintings sold for $1,500.00. Since then he has exhibited around the country with his paintings now selling for as much as $20,000.00. Behrens is characterized as energetic and enthusiastic, his outlook optimistic and his work is said to exude similar characteristics
