Fine Louis XV1 Bronze Snuff Box

A fine and rare Louis XV1 period gilt bronze snuff box in superb condition. French, circa: 1775-1795. Measuring: 3" wide x 1.5" depth x 1" height. Museum quality, very crisp sharp casting using the lost wax method of casting. Engraved deeply with Neoclassical design boasting Garlands, flowers and a wonderful center medallion on top with harp and horn with a classic french wreath. When you hold this Louis snuff box it is so smooth like the skin of a baby's bottom, pure silk. It opens and closes with such precision the maker must have been a jeweler. The gilding is all original and is Mercury gilded with a generous use of gold, catches the light with great beauty.

I purchased this wonderful snuff box from a fine art and antiquities historian gentleman from Atlanta that owned Estate Gold. His life was taken way too soon, so full of knowledge and just a delight to visit. I know he must be missed from the Art and Antiques community and so many acquaintances throughout his life.

Recently Sotheby's had an auction of Countess Mountbatten's estate, link is included, she has a snuff box collection. https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/auction/2021/the-family-collection-of-the-late-countess-mountbatten-of-burma?locale=en
