In very good condition. This is a Top-Quality CD of 665 train order images from the Western Pacific Railway, covering the entire system plus all branch lines on this Railroad. Included are 3 station lists showing each location and the number of orders copied at that location. Also included are 13 employee timetable pages that cover all of this territory, so you can see where each location was, with respect to the others. This Railroad was all train order territory up into the 1950s, when CTC was installed on the entire main line from San Francisco to Salt Lake City.   

Most of these orders (and a few of the clearance cards) are from the 1940s, when the entire system was operated on train order and timetable authority. Some were during World War 2, when the system was still entirely train order operation.

The Western Pacific and all of its subsidiary lines were merged out of existence on January 1, 1983.

There are 65 different WP locations represented here, with at least one train order image from each one. Ages of the orders range from 1919 to 1982. I am very thankful to have obtained these orders before the WP and other roads did away with them entirely. Many of these stations and towers were closed in the 1950's and 1960's. Those that remained open, still copied a lot of train orders, as traffic was always fairly heavy in this whole area, especially the main line from San Fran to SLC. However, nearly all intermediate stations on this main line were closed after CTC was installed on this line in the 1950s.

The 12 pictures shown are just a sampling of the quantity and variety of locations, engine numbers (some steam) and other operations unique to this large and very interesting Railroad. This CD shows many operators' names, track conditions, operating procedures, and many types of train orders, all consistent with train-order operation. This is some of the best Railroad reading anywhere.
