Very substantial handles for the extra large heavy trunks and chests 30" long to 40" long--These handles are new stock and are very suitable for handle replacements on Antique Trunks or newly built Chests--Included in this purchase are the following: Two russett leather straps  cut from cowhide 1 1/4" wide by 9"  inches long by 5/16" in thickness and very sturdy--Great for the larger trunks-- Four metal strap ends with coat of primer and a finish coat of hammered bronze enamel. Eight 1-1/8" long cut steel nails and eight 1" steel nails to fasten the leather to the trunk. Nails are to be placed four per end under the position of the metal strap ends in a square form position for best attachment. Form the permanent handle loop to suit before completing the nailing. Twelve- 3/4" split brass tacks to fasten the metal strap ends at rims and four 1" split brass tacks for the center post of the retainers. A few extra fasteners are included. The handles measure approx 11" metal end to metal end with the handle loop but can be shortened by cutting a bit off of the leather strap if required to fit.
